    OS X 10.10 Yosemite
Fixed an issue where Little Snitch could break DNS (computer name) lookups for all programs. This bug first occurred in version 4.3.
Little Snitch tells you when a program tries to send info to the Internet so you can see what's going on in the background!
Little Snitch should be doing that work up front for its users. One person on their end spends a day or two figuring it out for an app, and saves tens of thousands of user hours having to individually perform that task. No anti-virus out there alerts a user to every filesystem read and write - they maintain databases of known threats. The same should be true for this kind of software.
After a month I tend to go through my rules and set stuff to All Applications. It doesn't work for Safari as far as I know, because it uses something else to connect, but it handles nearly everything else.
Clever trick may be ham-fisted attempt bypass Gatekeeper protections built into macOS.

A connection alert will now point out if it is shown due to a contradiction between two rules about whether a connection should be allowed or denied Provides a higher level of security for the paranoid. No complaints, everything's working good for me. Besides the other replys that suggested Research Assistant: Little Snitch is actually able to write pcaps per application so you can then analyze with Wireshark. Killer feature, imo. Little Snitch 3.6 Perfect example: Spotify is impossible to manually whitelist without spending well over an hour accepting or denying each of the exhaustingly large number of domains it touches. I bet that nearly every user simply gives up and whitelists the entire application, which defeats the purpose of paying for and installing an app like Little Snitch in the first place. And prior to that, they were a well known developer for NeXT. Their LaunchBar app originated on NeXTSTEP. While viewing the Map or using Little Snitch's rules window you can select different apps and processes and use a small switch to allow or deny network traffic by flipping a small Rule Management switch.
